2026 marks America’s 250th anniversary — a milestone year for Taiwanese Americans to show unity and strength. Chicago stands at the heart of the Midwest, connecting communities from across three regions for three days of dialogue, connection, and action.
This flagship event brings 300–400 community members, leaders, families, and emerging voices together. Hosted by the TAA Greater Chicago Chapter and TAA-USA, this is our community’s proudest moment in the Midwest.

Overseas Community Affairs Council Chair
Chia-Ching Hsu (徐佳青)
Minister Hsu currently serves as the Minister of the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC). She holds a bachelor’s degree in Agronomy from National Taiwan University and a master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Marburg in Germany. A three-term Taipei City Councilor, she has long focused on human rights and women’s issues and is committed to connecting overseas Taiwanese communities with Taiwan.
Military Analyst
Tony C. T. Hu (胡振東)
Born in Taipei, Mr. Hu served in the United States Air Force for 27 years and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His expertise lies in military strategy in the Taiwan Strait. In recent years, he has frequently been invited to analyze cross-Strait security dynamics and the role of U.S. forces in Taiwan’s defense.

Anny Chiao-Yun Hsiao (蕭喬勻)
Born in Taiwan and raised in Oregon, Ms. Hsiao is the Executive Director of the Formosan Association for Public Affairs (FAPA). She has long worked to advance Taiwan-friendly legislation in the U.S. Congress and to promote grassroots advocacy across the United States.

Szu-Pang Yang (楊斯棓)
Dr. Yang is a family medicine physician and bestselling author. His books include “The Map of Life” and “Be That One Person,” both of which have gone through many printings, with all royalties donated to charity. Through reading and writing, he actively engages in social issues, and his influence spans both the medical and cultural spheres.

Ping-An Chen (陳品安)
Ms. Chen is a current Miaoli County Councilor. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from National Taiwan University and a master’s degree from NTU’s Graduate Institute of Law and Interdisciplinary Studies (Science and Technology Law). After joining the 2013 Yuanli anti-wind-turbine movement, she chose to root herself in Miaoli. She has been elected to the county council twice with strong support and has been nominated by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) as its candidate for the 2026 Miaoli County magistrate election.

Mr. Wang is the current chairman of the Taiwan Statebuilding Party. He is devoted to promoting a strong sense of Taiwanese identity and the normalization of Taiwan’s status as a nation. The party’s core platform, summarized as “Protect Taiwan, Resist China,” emphasizes strengthening Taiwan’s defense self-reliance and deepening democratic institutions.

Joy Chen (陳俞融)
Councilor Chen is a Taichung City Councilor from the DPP. She previously served as Deputy Director of the DPP International Affairs Department. She focuses on local governance and youth political participation, combining experience in international affairs with grassroots service to actively advance city oversight and civic engagement.

Evalyn Chen (陳乃瑜)
Councilor Chen is a New Taipei City Councilor from the DPP. Known for her outspoken and straightforward style, she is focused on child and women’s safety, education, and social welfare. She actively uses social media to communicate with constituents and to raise the visibility of local issues.

Ms. Chang is a veteran media professional who has served as a television news anchor and talk show host. She is known for her strong on-air personality and sharp commentary, and has long followed international affairs and Taiwan’s political development. Yi-ying Chiu (邱議瑩)
Legislator Chiu is a multi-term member of Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan from the DPP. She has long focused on foreign affairs and national defense, judicial reform, and gender equality. Her tough questioning style in the legislature has earned her a reputation as a senior “fighter” for the party.

Kuo-yung Hsu (徐國勇)
Mr. Hsu is the current Secretary-General of the Democratic Progressive Party. A lawyer by training, he previously served as Executive Yuan spokesperson and Minister of the Interior. Known for his quick wit and eloquence, he now oversees party affairs and the DPP’s campaign strategy for the 2026 elections.

Councilor Huang is a Taoyuan City Councilor from the DPP. Deeply rooted in local service, she focuses on city oversight, social welfare, and infrastructure development, and is one of the key DPP figures at the grassroots level in Taoyuan.

Councilor Miao is a Taipei City Councilor and a member of the Social Democratic Party, and the first openly LGBTQ+ councilor elected in Taiwan. She is known for her rational, evidence-based questioning and is actively involved in promoting human rights and judicial reform.

Writing under the pen name “Weng Da-Rui,” he is a professor of finance in the United States. Widely reported to be Prof. Shih-Fen Chen, he uses his column and social media presence to comment on current affairs, often exposing academic misconduct and political scandals. Completed in 1969, the John Hancock Center (now officially known as 875 North Michigan Avenue) is distinguished by its black exterior and diagonal cross-bracing structural system, giving it a highly recognizable silhouette.

The Miller Brewery Tour takes you through the Miller Valley facility on a 75- to 90-minute guided experience, both indoors and outdoors. You will see the brewing process, bottling lines, and historic cellars, and finish by enjoying cold beer in the beer garden or Miller Inn, with non-alcoholic options also available.
