The harsh sentencing of the 45 #HongKong pro-democracy leaders really hits home as Takchi Tam & Ray Chan either have family members or close friends in #Chicago. Exercising #Hongkongers’ constitutional rights to run for public office is now criminal.
The sham #47 trial without a jury explains what has fundamentally changed in #HongKong. #RuleofLaw has been replaced by #China’s arbitrary interpretation & application of the law to silence dissent & quash opposition in order to serve blatant & barbaric political ends.
